It was exactly what was described on the web page; the instructions were clear; it is easily assembled, and within about 30 minutes of opening the box I had wound 400 metres/100 g of 4 ply wool into a substantial but very manageable ball, which unwinds easily as I knit from it. Perfect!

This is a sturdy ball winder that makes the job of winding skeins so much faster. The balls/cakes produced are perfect for knitting with.

Beautifully handcrafted to perfection and made from natural birch wood. You can wind up to 450g of fingering weight yarn at a time. The anti-friction bearing on the spool side enables free rotation while the use of fine quality bearing provides super smooth winding of the yarn. Anti-skid rubber pads prevent the winder from sliding and scratching your table. A clamp which secures the winder can be used on tables with depths of up to 45mm.
For best results, use with the KnitPro Swift, sold separately.
