    Malabrigo silky merino

So pretty and so soft! I used it to knit a cowl in feather and fan stitch. The only downside is that it's perhaps not suitable for casting on a large numberof stitches using the thumb cast-on - the yarn is not strong enough to withstand the constant " pulling through" and breaks. Works brilliantly with a cable cast on, which incidentally made a very neat join when wotking in the round.

Love this wool ..making a cowl to the pattern 'That Nice Stitch', striping with the lovely dark blue that goes well with Anniversary colourway. It'll be a good lightweight cowl for autumn/spring! Highly recommend knitting with this!

Description

This delightfully drapey favourite combines 50% silk and 50% merino into a single-ply DK yarn that is an absolute treat to knit and a joy to wear. The combination is soft, smooth, and itch-free even on the most sensitive skin- absolutely wonderful for garments, scarves, and other next-to-your-skin items. The silk content gives the yarn a bit more weight and drape than a pure merino, and a slight sheen that is absolutely gorgeous. The fibres take dye a little differently, adding extra depth to the wide selection of semi-solid, variegated, and watercolour-multi colourways available.

Great for: Accessories, shawls, garments, cables, colourwork, textured stitches, lace.

Yarn Weight:  DK
Blend:  51% Silk 49% Merino
Ball Weight:  50g
Length:  137m (150 yards)
Needle Size:  3.5mm (US 4, UK 9) - 4mm (US 6, UK 8)

Note: Malabrigo comes in small dye lots so please be sure to buy enough yarn for your project. As with any hand dyed yarn, there can be significant shade differences between skeins, even within a dye lot, so we recommend that you alternate skeins every few rows to prevent striping.
