    colour of archangels' feathers

Friends, you wait until you see a batch with the colours arranged as you like, and invest in this wool to make your favourite thing, you will not regret this. It is beautiful, it is soft, I make things you can wear any day and not just to the theatre from it and they survive, still soft. It is like you can wear archangel feathers from pre-Raphaelite paintings: if you desire this wool, you should get it (and enough to be sure you can finish your garment, dye lots vary wildly).

    Malabrigo Rios

This Worsted/10 ply, hand-dyed yarn is gorgeous. In fact it's the yarn that got me into dyeing my own wool! Would definitely recommend trying this family owned company which is located in Uruguay and Peru.

    I Love Malabrigo Rios Yarn

The yarn is stunningly dyed, gives great stitch definition and is soft enough to wear against my skin. Be sure to get enough yarn in one purchase, because like all hand dyed yarn the colours will vary from batch to batch. Archangel is one of my favourite colourway, but there is such a wide range of colours in the Rios yarns that you're sure to find something you love. The worsted weight knits up quickly, so I got a lot of speedy gratification as I knitted a long cardigan with this in 2 weeks. Woolstack gives great service and speedy delivery. I recommend buying from them.

Would have given 5 stars if colour variation less wild!

Malabrigo Rios is the softest, smoothest, bounciest texture yarn I’ve used so far in about 5 years of crochet and knitting. The colours of “Archangel” are exquisite. A word of warning however - they do tell you there are no dye lots, but I did not expect the HUGE variation of colour between skeins. I bought 7 elsewhere, then later a further 4 here, (best price!) There were a couple of skeins containing more yellows and couple with more purple, but the rest were so different from them and from each other that they might have been considered a different colour altogether. I had to switch between skeins constantly to avoid big blocks of colour and sudden changes, and that was annoying since a major reason for buying variegated yarn was to get lots of colour into my project without having to think too much about it, or change yarn and deal with lots of ends. I washed a test swatch very carefully as per label, and found that it shrank a little in one direction and grew considerably in the other. Makes it a bit complicated to adjust a pattern for size/stitch count. I would probably use it again due to the beautiful look and feel, but with a pattern that intersperses it with plain colour.

Description

Soft, strong, and washable, this worsted weight yarn is Malabrigo's workhorse! The plies help resist pilling and washability makes it fantastic for frequently-worn garments, housewares, and children and baby clothes. And like all of Malabrigo's yarns, it’s super soft and great for next-to-the-skin wear! Spun from premium superwash merino, it comes in an array of watercolour-multi, semi-solid, and variegated colorways.

Great for: Accessories, garments, baby and kids items, housewares, toys, cables, textured stitches, colorwork.
