Like the rest of the Symfonie range, these needles combine durability with warm feel. The notches along the length help to stop the yarn from slipping off the needle without snagging it or making it awkward to cable. This is an excellent and well-thought-out product; I do exclusively cable knitting, and I would not want to use any other kind of cable needle.
A newbie to cable knitting I have found the design with grooves along the needle very good at holding the wool in place. Better than the metal needle I was loaned.

Was a little wary of these after reading other comments but... I love them. They take a little getting used to due to the grooves but I find they don't slip out of my yarn so easily as my previous metal cable needles.
I love this range of knitting needles, they are great quality and worth the higher price than cheaper wooden needles. However I do find these cable needles more tricky to use than the standard metal ones as the wool gets stuck in the grooves. They are obviously there to stop your cable stitches falling off but it also makes them tricky to get off when you actually need to.
I bought this to match my other Symfonie needles, a bit of a silly reason, I know. I now regret it, I should have trusted the other reviewers, but I thought "They're knitpro, a good brand, they cannot be that bad". How wrong I was! The grooves make their use unnecessarily arduous and slow, very slow. Making cables doesn't need to be such a pain.
Unlike Victoria, I just can't get on with these cable needles. I like the idea, but the grooves grip the stitches so fast, it's a struggle to get them off the other end of the needle. No good for my knitting rhythm. It's a shame, because I love KnitPro products!
Even though the grooves take a bit of getting used to, they are the best cable needles I've had in a long time.
Having only just started to use these I hope to get used to them with time, but at the moment I am finding the grooves in them really annoying as the stitches keep ' sticking ' in them. I bought theses specifically because they are so short and I prefer my cable needles to be shorter than average. Shame about the grooves because everything else about them is perfect!
